The article deals with the avian range expansion in the northerly direction for 23 species of birds on the territory of Irkutsk Oblast. The data presented are based on the analysis of special literature and our own research on range expansion of the number of species nesting in the southern part of the oblast and new ones, previously not found in the northerly direction over the past 50 years. The significant changes in bird habitats in recent years are probably associated with both natural causes and human economic activities. Details are given for the following species: Podiceps nigricollis; Podiceps cristatus, Phalacrocorax carbo; Tadorna ferruginea; Tadorna tadorna; Anas strepera; Pernis ptilorhynchus; Buteo hemilasius; Hieraaetus pennatus; Aquila nipalensis; Aquila clanga; Aegypius monachus; Coturnix japonica; Antropoides virgo; Recurvirostra avosetta; Tringa stagnatilis; Larus (vegae) mongolicus; Spodiopsar cineraseus; Anthus godlewskii; Cyanopica cyanus; Acrochephalus orientalis; Petrophyla gularis; Emberiza godlewskii.
