European Union enlargement under the conditions of the present demographic reality: trends and perspectives

The European Union is presently the largest integrated association in the world uniting 27 states. This is a powerful organization from the point of its demographic potential and socio-economic development. The European Union is characterized by permanent enlargement. It ‘absorbs’ more and more new states from different regions. The process of the EU enlargement is called for by a number of causes, but it is believed that among them are dominating economic and geopolitical ones. The article examines demographic factors of the EU enlargement.
