When the Great Patriotic War was over and deterioration in relations between the USSR and the former co-belligerents on anti-Hitler coalition became obvious, once again our country found itself facing the problem in providing the domestic industry that was especially connected with the production of drilling devices, instrument making industry, radioelectronics, optics, oil and gas production, industrial diamonds. Therefore the Soviet Government made a decision to expand diamond prospecting activity in our country in the postwar period.
