The article compared the image of the hero of the principles in the works of I. S. Turgenev and G. D’Annunzio. The author analyzed the artistic type of the “superfluous man”, created by Russian writer and Italian version of the “superman” and showed exceptional role of the landscape in revealing the character’s perception of the world.
