The article presents a brief history of research conducted at the Karaganda Technical University in the field of creating thyristor-pulse control systems for the traction electric drive of industrial and urban electrified transport. The equipment "IMPULSE" has been developed, designed to modernize existing contact-rheostat control systems for electrified transport. The external characteristics of the equipment "Impulse-3-600" in the mode of dosed energy transfer and in the mode of frequency-width regulation are given. As well as power and structural diagrams of the control system. The factors influencing the operation of the power circuit of the thyristor-pulse controller, causing switching failures, have been established, and the mechanism of their action has been determined. The main problem for developers is to achieve reliable cyclic operation of the power circuit of the thyristor-pulse controller. The article shows the ways to solve it.
