Development of a method for protection against extraction of optical fiber into clutch on suspended fiber in areas with low negative temperature

The paper analyzes the main features and problems of the construction and operation of fiber-optic communication lines in the Far North and Siberia. It is shown that suspended OCs in these areas are operated at extremely low negative temperatures in winter (up to minus 61 °C) and high positive temperatures in summer (up to plus 40 °C). Such a temperature regime, combined with an excessive length of optical fibers in the cable and a significant difference between the temperature coefficients of linear expansion of the materials of modular tubes and optical fibers, leads to the effect of «squeezing» of optical fibers out of the cable into the sleeves. The developed method of fixing optical modules on the optical coupling cassette, as well as the method of testing the protection against «extrusion» of optical fibers into the coupling cassette, are considered.
