Human capital as an economic category is a set of knowledge, competencies and experience of employees in the labor market that can be effectively used to create economic value. Despite the results achieved, the development of human capital in Russia faces a number of challenges, among which the demographic threat remains key due to a decrease in the birth rate and an aging population. Improving the quality characteristics of labor resources contributes to the growth of labor productivity in the economy, the development of science and innovation, their introduction into production, increased manufacturability and intensification. Solving problems related to the development of human capital is an important condition for ensuring economic growth. The study examines the main aspects of human capital development in Russia as a factor in ensuring economic growth in the period 2019-2024. It was found that economic growth in the country continues, albeit at a slow pace, and the human capital development index in the period 2021-2023 was characterized by a decrease caused by the influence of a number of economic factors, due to the increased influence of which the effect of human capital development is somewhat reduced, and economic development is more influenced by other aspects. Despite this, human capital is the driving force of the economy, therefore, even in the current circumstances, it is necessary to continue to pay due attention to this area.
