Digital economy development in Russia: opportunities and limitations

In the last decade, there has been a rapid transition from the traditional economy to the digital one, which implies the use of digital technologies in the implementation of the economic process in all areas of the economy. The introduction of digital technologies provides economic entities with undeniable advantages in the form of increasing the competitiveness and efficiency of economic processes, as well as expanding the possibilities of activities based on the use of digital money and payment systems. In Russia, ensuring the accelerated implementation of digital technologies in the economy and social sphere is one of the national development goals. The purpose of this work is to study the opportunities and limitations of the development of the digital economy in Russia. The objectives of the work are to consider the essence of the digital economy, to assess the development of the digital economy in Russia, to analyze the opportunities and limitations of the development of the digital economy in Russia, to study the conditions of digitalization. As a result, the opportunities and limitations of the development of the digital economy in Russia are revealed. Among the main barriers, there is an insufficient level of funding for science and a reduction in human resources, as well as a low level of digital skills. The research methodology is based on a systematic and historical approach, statistical and comparative analysis.
