Art crafts development in Novosibirsk region in the late XX - early XXI century

Folk arts and crafts in the Russian cultural practices are considered as part of the Russian cultural heritage and one of the symbols of national identity. In the Novosibirsk region crafts do not have deep historical roots, but are diverse. Their development and promotion begins with the 1970-es and gets a new impulse with folk and craft festivals and fairs development in the region in 1990-2000. Simultaneously non-governmental craftsmen organizations formed. Reorientation of regional cultural policy to the more traditional methods of the cultural heritage presentation has had a significant impact on the further crafts development in the Novosibirsk region, bringing together craftsmen society organizations and individual artists around common problems solutions.
