The study presents an original approach to using evolutionary trends of an economic entity in the external environment as the basis for the stable functioning of an industrial enterprise due to its adaptive development. In this regard, the enterprise should be constantly adapted to the environmental factors. It is concluded that the external and internal factors in the economic system functioning as an object of adaptation have full control over the process of the enterprise adaptation. The object, in particular enterprise, goes through the stable and structural adaptation, and the structure of the object can deteriorate that leads to the crisis. The author identifies the stages, reasons and strategies for overcoming crises. The study reveals that an advanced industrial enterprise is adapted to the external environment resulting in the minimal and not functional loss of resources.
