Development of Komi linguistic science in 50 years.

This paper reflects in detail the main scientific activities – a comprehensive study of the Komi language and its dialects in close connection with the study of the Permian and other Finno-Ugric languages – and major achievements of philologists- linguists during the existence of the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Komi Science Centre, Ural Branch, RAS, from 1970 to 2020. It clearly demonstrates the research experience, while maintaining continuity with the traditions of previous scientists, the history of the formation of the sector as an organizationally separate scientific structural division. During this period, the team of linguists conducted large-scale research in the field of grammatical structure and lexical composition of the Komi language, its history and dialectology, carried out collective and individual planned themes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, orders of the Republic for the preparation of scientific, popular science and educational literature on the Komi language, developed research projects of various scientific funds. The paper contains a reasoned assessment of published major generalizing and individual scientific works (monographs, dictionaries, preprints, information and reference publications, etc.) from the point of view of modern theoretical and applied linguistics, Finno-Ugric studies, their significance in science and public life, both in the Komi Republic, the Russian Federation and in the international scientific community as a whole.
