Development of a resort zone in Turkmenistan

This article deals with the issue of tourism potential of the national resort zone of Turkmenistan «Awaza». The attached measures of the state to support the development of tourism in the country are studied. The tendencies of outbound tourism of Russian residents to the CIS countries were analyzed, as well as statistical data on the state of the tourist outbound flow over the past few years, in consequence of this, the authors identified potential target audiences of the resort zone of Turkmenistan. It is also substantiated why the tourism industry is becoming a promising and potentially important sector of the national economy of the country. Problems are identified and recommendations for working on the attractiveness of the sea resort for tourists are offered.
