Development of track and field athletics in Russia

This article examines the historical origin in Russia of one of the most popular sports on a global scale, as "Athletics". Athletics is an Olympic sport that includes 5 accredited disciplines. There is a direct analysis of the stages of the formation and development of athletics in Russia. Special attention is paid to the factors of its development, outstanding personalities in sports who have made a significant contribution to the popularization of this sport in Russia. Much attention is also paid to the inclusion of athletics in the All-Russian physical Culture and Sports complex "Ready for Work and Defense", where more than half of the standards are related to this sport. Conclusions are also drawn about the significant role of athletics as the Olympic movement in the Russian Federation.
