Timber Industry Development in the Russian Federation: Issues and Prospects

The article provides a detailed analysis of the state of the timber industry in the Russian Federation. The problems that hinder the sustainable development of the timber industry are identified. It is proved that the effective development of the woodworking industry should be provided, first of all, by increasing the integrated use of wood raw materials and wood processing by improving the structure of production and consumption of forest products, reducing waste and losses of wood raw materials, introducing modern waste-free technological processes and financing investments. The SPIC 2.0 program is considered as a measure to support enterprises of complex wood processing and receive tax benefits.
