The development of each municipality largely depends on the size and composition of the population living there. In particular, the able-bodied population and the population younger than working age (labor reserve) are of particular importance. The paper analyzes the change in the population of municipalities of the central group of districts of the Krasnoyarsk Region, included in the Krasnoyarsk agglomeration since 2017. A retrospective assessment of the analyzed territories, according to the author, indicates a significant increase in the population in the municipalities adjacent to the regional center against the background of its significant decrease in more remote areas. As a rule, the shortage of human resources leads to the degradation of rural settlements. Based on the results of the study, economic proposals were developed to preserve and attract the population to small and remote municipalities from Krasnoyarsk, within which special attention is paid to consumer cooperation, including agricultural, support for small businesses, restoration and repair of social and household infrastructure.
