Development of the oil and gas complex in Russia: problems and prospects

On the base of the analysis of the main results of the implementation of the state policy of the Russian Federation in the sphere of the oil and gas industry, the author proves the need for the fast modernization of oil and gas industry, that can be a factor that determines not only the political and economic future of the country, but also strategic foreign economic and geopolitical position of Russia. According to the author, there is the need for more active role of the state in the modernization process: the increased involvement of the government role and the state regulation in the oil and gas sector will diversify not only the development of the industry but the state economy in general.
