Development of desertification at the south of Russia

The article deals with the definition of desertification, the basic reasons and consequences and the territory of the spread of the desertification at the south of the European part of Russia. There are given the basic programs, aimed at the fight against the desertification, the modern methods of identifying and monitoring the development of the desertification processes.
