Development of political advertising in Russia

This article provides a definition of political advertising as a type of advertising activity. The history of political advertising in Russia is examined, starting from Soviet times and ending with the latest events of the 21st century. The main trends in political advertising in Russia in different years are considered and the use of new advertising distribution channels - television and the Internet - is studied. Political advertising is considered here in its broadest sense, not limiting itself to electioneering, but including all messages broadcast by politicians to motivate people to political action. Also, the context of time and the political situation in the country is used to emphasize the degree of influence of political reality on the means, mass character, and actors of political advertising.
