Development of principle of rationalism in economic theory: traditions and modernity

The article discloses the philosophical reasons of development of rationalism principle in classical economic theory. There is considered the controversy of rationalism and empiricism as the two pillars in the development of the methodology of economic knowledge, as well as the challenges faced by modern concepts of rationalism.
