The development of the environmental activities on the basis of the local history scientific societies in the Middle and Lower Volga regions in the 1920s - early 1930s

The article deals with the history of the formation of the nature protection system in the Middle and Lower Volga region in 1920-1930s, which were developed thanks primarily to the efforts of the local history scientific societies. On the basis of archival documents, the author examines the relations between local history societies and environmental movement in the context of the emergence of the state system of nature protection in the RSFSR.
