Fisheries development of the Baikal region in 1945-1980-s

Fishing industry plays an important role in the development of national economy, so its study is one of the most pressing problems for the economy of the region as a whole. Historical experience with all its achievements and shortcomings is analyzed and generalized, which will help to give full as-sessment of current situation in the fisheries and determine the ways for its further development. The functioning of Soviet model of fisheries was pro-vided by the system of state support, which allowed successful development of fishing industry. The country's leadership has always paid great attention to the development of fishing industry as the most important branch of food supply for the population.
