Development of family social service of elderly people in terms of social reforms

In the article the familial forms of social services for elderly people in the Republic of Buryatia were analyzed. The research among elderly people and assistants (guardians) of adoptive families was carried out in 2013-2014. Based on empirical data we analyzed the motives, development problems and prospects of family forms of care for elderly people. During the study social portrait of an elderly person in foster family was given, the interests and needs of this age group, difficulties of adapting to foster family were identified. The obtained data revealed that social status of elderly person in family had a great importance for maintenance of his life. It depended on family structure, social status and family life cycle. The presented results allowed us to conclude that development of family-based social service would serve as a source of social cohesion, promote intergenerational solidarity and creation of society for all ages.
