The characteristic of the current state of gas supply system and the statistical data on the extraction and use of natural gas on the territory of the Russian Federation as well as the legal aspects of gasification of the country are highlighted in the article. The main participants engaged in the Program of gasification of the Russian regions and the State’s part in it are represented.
