Development of Sports and Wellness Tourism in Regions of Russia

The article analyzes issues related to the development of sports and recreation tourism, the social aspects of tourism activities, and other relevant topics within the tourism industry of the Russian Federation. Many scientific papers have been devoted to the study of these issues, by both domestic and foreign scientists, who have paid special attention to the tourism and wellness sector as an important segment of the tourism business. A relevant area of research is the development of modern recreational infrastructure in the regions for the provision of sports and recreation services in the tourist market. In modern society, tourism is a popular form of recreation and has a significant impact on the social and cultural development of individuals. By participating in various tourist events, one can gain new, previously unknown information about the linguistic and cultural characteristics and national customs of the peoples inhabiting various tourist regions. The development of a sports and recreation area for tourism activities is expected to progress in the direction of creating sustainable flows of attendance not only by foreign tourists but also by fostering conditions for the development of domestic tourism in the country. This direction of tourism development is anticipated to create necessary conditions for the improvement of the economic and social development of the state. Therefore, the study of the dynamics of the development of sports and recreation tourism, as an important component of tourism activities, is relevant and of considerable interest. The purpose of the article is to analyze the prospects for the development of sports and recreation tourism in the tourism services market of our country. To obtain the research results, the following scientific research methods were used: theoretical analysis based on literary sources, synthesis, generalization, and comparison. As a result of the conducted research, the factors that are obstacles to the development of the tourism and wellness sector of the economy were also identified. Authors’ contribution. V.V.
