Tourist cluster development in the region (the example of Saratov region)

The paper examines the principles and stages of tourist cluster development on the example of Saratov region. The goals of cluster development in tourism and the priority of the cluster approach in the tourist area management are outlined. The author analyzes the region potential for forming such clusters, based on the availability of various tourist resources. There are highlighted obstacles, such as lack of infrastructure and inconsistency in the actions of cluster members, as well as directions for overcoming them. Particular attention is paid to the importance of cooperation between business, government and scientific institutions for the effective development of clusters. Examples of successful clusters in the region are given, such as the Khvalynsky tourist and recreational cluster and the local cluster in the village of Loch. In conclusion, the need to further develop the tourist infrastructure and popularize the tourist’s region image to strengthen the socioeconomic tourism role is emphasized.
