The article describes the main stages of viticulture and winemaking development in the Stavropol province in the period of 1861-1917. The main characteristics of viticulture and winemaking industry of the region are described. The author studies the district of the middle Kuma river, which was the center of winemaking and viticulture industry of Stavropol during the post-reform period.
