The main trends of the development of intellectual property rights in the modern information society are considered in the article. The development of the information society implies the improvement of legal regulation in the field of intellectual property. Improvement of digital technologies and the technical revolution, which is started in the 80-ies of the XX century, created the possibility of copying to the detriment of rightholders, and at the same time provided tremendous opportunities for effective copyright management. The most important trends are the development of standards for the implementation and protection of copyright in information and telecommunications networks, maintaining a balance of private and public interests, as well as the unification of the law. Robotic production and the emergence of artificial intelligence generate new challenges for intellectual property rights.
