The right of access to information on activities of public authorities and local governments in the Russian Federation

The article deals with the right to access to information about activities of public authorities and local governments, the exercise of this right, the reasons to deny access to such information. The author distinguishes the types of information according to the users' access level. The paper concludes that the availability of information on the activities of the authorities is aimed at both ensuring the personal interests of the individual associated with the ability to exercise one's rights and freedoms, and one's participation in the affairs of the society and the state.
