From the perspective of political realism, the article examines the problem of assessing the role of individuals and political leadership in history in the context of ensuring national interests, national security, and social consolidation. Using the examples of interpretations of the historical roles of V. Lenin, J. Stalin, and Mao Zedong, the article demonstrates the positive and destructive aspects of information policy from the perspective of pragmatic protection of state sovereignty in the ideological, political, and value spheres. The author concludes that a balanced approach to assessing historical events is important for the tasks of protecting national security, national interests, and state sovereignty. This approach takes into account not only the emotional and ethical assessments of political figures, but also the impact of such assessments on the state's foreign policy positions, its credibility, and its soft power potential in the world.
