Review of the monograph A. L. Hudoborodova and M. A. Yashin "Standig for believing in hard time days: the relationship of the Russian Ortodox Church and the Soviet state in 1917 - the early 1930-s (oh the South Ural materials)

In a review of the results of the analysis carried out and the characteristic of the content of a monograph on the history of the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church in the South Ural region in the 1920s - mid-1930s. in the context of its relations with the Soviet state. The changes in the activity of the Ural dioceses, caused by an authorization of the local congresses and meetings with representatives of the clergy and laity. The characteristics of the source base monograph noted the benefits of choosing a systemic approach as a methodological basis of the study, the consistency and feasibility of the research tasks set out, the validity of the partition structure, revealing the degree of scientific research topic submitted by the authors. It is emphasized that the increased interest of readers call the appointment and activities of the new leadership of the Chelyabinsk’s diocese of, Kurgan’s diocese, the fate of the Zlatoust vicariate under Renovationist split. Highlighted independent authors position when considered in the third chapter and the evaluation of metropolitan Sergius (Starogorodskiy) in russian history, which has been criticized. The advantage of the monograph is the author’s attempt to revise the well-established in the Russian historical science of interpretation of the metropolitan Sergius of in 1927 «Declaration» discussing the authors are against the negative interpretation of the Gregorian schism in the Russian Orthodox Church in the Urals in 1920s.
