Review on I. V. Neupokoev's monograph "The genesis of the primary education system in Kurgan and Kurgan district of Tobolsk province in the XIX - early XX century" (Kurgan, 2018)

The review presents the results of the research on the emergence and development of primary school in Kurgan and the Kurgan district in the XIX - early XX century, focused on the history of pedagogy in the South Urals region. This study is noted to be one of the most significant recent works related to the issue. The source database of the monograph is outlined. I. V. Neupokoev in detail examines the regulatory framework of the primary education formation; identifies the main socio-economic and political factors that influenced the development of public education; reviews the activities of management and oversight bodies; considers the social status of the teacher in pre-revolutionary times; investigates organization of educational process on the primary level in Kurgan and the Kurgan district.
