The review describes the content of the monograph, which shows the state of prostitution that has revived in the context of the Civil War in the Urals and the efforts being made to eliminate it. It is noted that the author of the monograph M. I. Miroshnichenko traces a change in the state policy in relation to this social vice, highlighting the transition from the initial utopian ideas to repressive measures, then - to abolitionism and, ultimately - to prohibitionism. The author has identified the main stages, directions and forms of work of the commissions and councils for combating prostitution in the region, and shows their cooperation with law enforcement and health authorities
