The review describes a monograph that comprehensively examines the history of educational institutions in Troitsk (now Chelyabinsk region) in the pre-revolutionary period. The author covered the issues of organization and transformation of the educational system in the second half of XVIII - first quarter of XX century Through the prism of educational institutions, the author presented the history of the County-level city, its economic, social and cultural development, focused on the originality of Troitsk, presented the effect of ethno-religious situation in the field of education.
