The article aims at revealing the character of receptive direction in Pasternak's novel. The analysis of the ways of modelling a desirable reading strategy leads to a conclusion that two contradictory tendencies are combined in the novel. They are monologic affirmation of the absolute truth and dialogic confidence in independence of the reader's experience. The author links the given paradox to the parabolic structure of narration in the novel.
