Rare earth metals: application of Hi-Tech and potential of the Kola peninsula

The current trends of use of Rare Earth Metals (RM) in the main Hi-Tech directions are considered and by production of strategically important components of devices and the equipment. Examples of use of RM in IPhones and by production of hybrid cars are given. It is shown that rapid development of Hi-Tech cause's growth rates of production and consumption of rare-earth products. The potential of the Kola Peninsula for production of RM is considered. The expediency of study of projects on cluster development of groups relatively nears the located fields containing rare-earth mineral raw materials and also complex use high-valuable the apatite nepheline ores and involvement in secondary processing of techno genic resources of the peninsula is noted.
