Regional differentiation of agricultural activity conditions of the North-Caucasian federal district

The authors provide a comparative assessment of the conditions of activity of the subjects of the North Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) by the main socio-economic indicators for 2010-2020. The uneven development of the constituent entities of the District is revealed. It is expressed in their differentiation, asymmetry, polarization. The structure of agricultural production in the region by categories of farms has been analyzed, the dominant role of small forms of farming has been determined. The most important social institution of the rural area of the region, capable of ensuring the dynamism of its development, is individual-family agricultural production. The main condition for increasing the socio-economic efficiency of rural development is the effective implementation of the potentials of the diversity of the agrarian economy and the resources of the territory. The key to the economic growth of the North Caucasus Federal District should be the state financial support, as well as the use of exogenous factors in the development of the region.
