Regional policy of Spain at the present stage

Бесплатный доступ

The article examines the mechanism, directions and results of Spanish regional policy over the past three decades aimed at solving both numerous traditional and relatively new problems caused by economic and social contrasts in the development of its territories, as well as the strengthening demographic challenge(desertification of land, aging population, etc). Despite the efforts of the Spanish government, relying on significant financial support from the EU, it is still difficult to talk about achieving noticeable results in terms of harmonization and economic convergence of “rich”and “poor”regions, reduction of their disproportional development. The current Spanish Regional Development Plan for 2021-2027, focused on its new directions (green energy, digitalization, complex territorial development, social integration), is aimed to accelerate growth dynamics to the lagging territories, primarily by increasing their own resource potential.
