Regional-Spatial and Cultural-Historical Features of UNESCO World Heritage Sites Located in the Russian Federation

The author studies the main aspects of the geographical location of UNESCO world heritage sites on the territory of the Russian Federation, determines the structural quantitative and qualitative characteristics and belonging of objects to various classification groups. According to 2020 data, the list of the world's leading countries by the number of world cultural and historical heritage sites located in them is presented. The structure of objects of the world cultural and historical heritage in three categories is considered: cultural objects, natural objects and mixed objects. A comparative analysis of the regions of the Russian Federation where world heritage sites are located with a national rating of tourism development based on the results of 2019 is carried out. Based on the research, the author formulated proposals for improving activities in the field of tourism, especially in the regions where world heritage sites are located.
