Local online media of Michigan, USA, and perm region, RF: comparative analysis

The article analyses on-line media, which represent Michigan, US, and Perm region, RF, in the Internet. It reveals specificity, similarity and difference of local on-line media; the role and functions of on-line news media in the USA and Russia are compared. The object of study is a number of diverse web resources: internet portals, which do not have any print analogs (Mlive.com and 59.ru), and major local media, which do (on-line representations of "Detroit Free Press and "Zvezda"). Comparative analysis allowed predicting perspectives of on-line media developing in Perm region.
