A procedure for calculating an indicator for the total specific normalized potential of renewable energy sources is proposed for comprehensively assessing the resources of renewable energy available in different territories is given. This procedure allows carrying a regional analysis of allocation on the territory of renewable energy resources which are the most significant in the region. The described procedure is applied for characteristic and analysis of allocations of the renewable energy resources on the territory of the Southern Federal District in Russian Federation.
