This paper carries out a comprehensive study of legal aspects of Brexit in the context of fishing industry. It analyzes the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement signed in December 2020. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that the European Union compromised on the issues of access to the UK waters, catch quotas as well as the frequency of their setting. The legal assessment of the Agreement’s innovations, including the annual quota setting and tariff-free fish exports, is given. It is concluded that restricted access to fish resources, especially in the exclusive economic zone, will contribute to their conservation and proper fisheries management. At the same time, the author of the paper identifies the shortcomings of the Agreement and makes some proposals for improving fisheries regulation.
