This article presents the results of a survey conducted at the regional level, in order to form an integral assessment of the development of creative industries of a given region. The authors also compared the survey findings with ratings of a similar direction. The increasing interest of regional administrations in the development of regional creative economy stimulates the importance of such surveys, including those that allow comparing the state of this sphere in different territories. The main methods of the research were: analysis of domestic and foreign scientific literature and regulatory legal acts, as well as a comparative analysis of statistical indicators of the development of creative industries in the regions. The authors confirmed the hypotheses about the uneven development of creative industries in the constituencies of the Russian Federation, the close correlation between the efforts of regional admi-nistrations and the level of development of creative industries, the high importance of specia-lised education, tourism and a number of other related industries and spheres of activity. The study has shown that the level of creative industries development is closely related to the qua-lity of life of the population and the development of small businesses. Regional legislative and support measures play an important role in the development of creative industries. At the same time, lack and incompleteness of statistical data on individual creative industries remain unsolved. According to the authors, the practical application of the results of the study will help to improve comparative research on the development of creative industries.
