Per Christian Jersild's religious and political pamflet Calvinol's voyage around the world

In Swedish literature, satire has a special, inherently unvalued, place. Per Christian Jersild’s novel Calvinol s Voyage Around the World (1965) is a unique text that concentrates a large number of acute worldview problems that Swedish society tries not to actualize. Among them are the issues of Catholicism and Protestantism, Nazism and racial biology, a special ‘third’ path of Sweden and the consequences of neutrality against the backdrop of world dictatorial regimes. Reflections on the fate of the world are presented by Jersild in a conventional form of a religious and political pamphlet.
