Religious extremism in the republics of the North Caucasus

The article describes the religious and political situation in the North Caucasus, considers the main factor influencing the development of the operational situation in Kabardino-Balkaria, which is the radical Islamist group functioning on its territory. Its structure, goals and objectives are discussed. As a counteraction to the religious extremism the author proposes a comprehensive approach that includes regulatory, restraining and preventive measures.
