The article examines the specifics of the influence of consumer culture on the transformation of aesthetic values in modern society. The relationship between the culture of mass consumption and conscious human actions is revealed. Based on the work of leading experts, an analysis of the causes of the loss of aesthetic elements caused by this culture is carried out. In the context of destructive trends, the strategic potential of traditional Russian cultural institutions - existing libraries and theaters - as tools for preserving authentic aesthetic norms is revealed. In conclusion, the expediency of reorienting state cultural policy towards the need to integrate authentic values into the media space in order to curb consumer trends is substantiated.
