Renovation in east Germany: the program of support of "disappearing" cities

The authors analyze the program of renovation of housing in East Germany, which has been in effect since the beginning of the 2000s. Consider the reasons for adopting the concept of redevelopment of residential areas in cities with a shrinking population, analyze the relevant regulatory legal framework. Compare the German renovation program with a similar project in the city of Moscow. They conclude that, in general, the German renovation program has been quite successful and can serve as a positive example of the solution of similar tasks in Russia.
