The roentgenological dynamics of bone tissue regeneration for monosegmental bifocal leg lengthening in children and adolescents with congenital shortening of the lower limbs

The x-rays of 73 patients with congenital shortening of the lower limbs (83 operated segments), subjected to monosegmental bifocal distraction osteosynthesis of the leg, are analyzed. The dynamics of the regenerative process of the tibia is studied, paying a special attention to the peculiarities of its regeneration in the proximal and distal parts. Quantitative criteria of the x-ray analysis are demonstrated, which allowed to solve the problem of the proper time for distraction device dismounting.
