This article investigates the prerequisites, course and results of the repressive policies of the Soviet state against the Russian Orthodox Church in the 1920s-1930s. Particular attention is paid to the punitive activity of VCHK-OGPU-NKVD in regard to religion and the clergy. Draws local Ural material for disclosure of the research topic, including documents from the archives and online resources.
