The versions presented in Runet are considered, which relate to the peculiarities of the development of the cooperative industry of the USSR during the 1950s. The relevance of the article is determined by the fact that during this period, attempts were made to reform the mobilization model of the Soviet society, in which an important role was assigned to the quasi-market sector, namely the produser’s artels. However, their potential was never fully realized. On the contrary, the central government embarked on the path of the final nationalization of the cooperative sector. Access to scientific literature on the problem due to its relatively poor knowledge for the general reader is difficult. The lack of information is made up for in the virtual space, where there are often unverified materials, mutually exclusive positions, direct distortion of facts. The purpose of this publication is to use the method of content analysis to determine the quality of the information product offered by popular sites and bloggers to the general consumer. As a result of the research undertaken, it was concluded that communicators, as a rule, do not refer to primary documents, the authenticity of which is beyond doubt; do not know how to group a database from them and subject it to critical, active cognitive processing; are biased by ideological attitudes. As a result, the discussion does not go beyond the framework of the «folk history» genre, which attracts attention with its amusement and sensationalism, evokes the illusion of awareness and competence by showing the allegedly true past. This is achieved because the resources available in the network have sufficient diversity in terms of species and content. To resist amateurism and prevent distortion of historical truth, social scientists should attend to the creation and popularization of their own specialized Internet sites.
