The article analyzes specific features of TIME concept explication in English literature of the XX-XXI centuries on the material of J.R. Fowles's novel. The following thematic groups of figurative conveyance of temporality are considered: TIME IS A POSSESSION, TIME IS A MOVING SUBJECT/ OBJECT, TIME IS A LANDSCAPE / A ROAD, TIME IS A BOOK, TIME IS A CONTAINER, TIME IS SPACE, TIME IS RHYTHM.
